Discussion Questions
Prologue and Yesterday: One hour after school: Discussion for Prologue and Yesterday: How does Clay react to receiving a box of tapes from a girl that killed herself? Do you think your reaction would be similar? Would you listen to the tapes?
Cassette 1 Side A: How did Hannah’s reputation get started? Do you think this is common in school? Do you think you would react the same way Hannah did?
Cassette 1 Side B: Alex created the list for the “Freshman Class - Who’s Hot/Who’s Not”. Do you think Alex thought about how the girls on this list would feel? How would you react to being on a list like this? Do you think Hannah overreacted?
Cassette 1 Side B: No I do not think Alex thought about how the girls on the list would feel. I would be very upset just like Hannah was, that is not okay or something other people should freely judge no matter what is true or rumored about you. I think suicide was not a way to deal with it, but I would have been extremely upset just as Hannah was.

ReplyDeleteCassette 1 Side B: No, I don't think Alex thought about how they would feel. He was just playing around trying to be a class clown. If I were on a list like this, I wouldn't care. I'd just read it to find out what people said about me. Then I'd be like, whatever, it's just a piece of paper. I think Hannah overreacted a lot. She should have just read it and confronted him about it if she wanted. She shouldn't care what he thinks about her.
ReplyDeleteCassette 1 Side A: Hannah's reputation started when she hung out with Justin and he made up rumors about what they did and they weren't true. I do think it is common for people to have reputations in schools even high school. I would kind of react how Hannah did but not the part where she killed herself I would just be mad.
ReplyDeleteCassette 1 Side A: Hannah's reputation was started by a boy she kissed early on in the story and he told rumors that she let him go up her bra. This is very common in school where people don't get the full story and assume things that are said are true but are probably not. I definitely would not react the way Hannah did by killing herself because she's stupid and obviously scared and confused. If I were Hannah I would seek better friends or revenge which is an awesome character builder.
ReplyDeletecassette 1 side A. Her reputation got started with that one guy in the park--Justin. I think that bullying is very common in schools. No, I would not react the way Hannah did. I would talk to someone first.
ReplyDeleteCassette 1 Side B: No I don't think Alex thought about how it would make the girls on the list feel. It doesn't matter if they where on the hot side or the not side, its very degrading and low to make a list like that. If someone put me on a list like that I would be very upset and it wouldn't matter what side I was on because I don't thinks it's right to treat girls that way. I don't think Hannah overreacted, she was just trying to prove a point.

If I was on this list and I was on the who's not list, I don't know how I would have reacted. Yes I think Hannah did overreact by killing herself.
When Alex made the "Freshman Class - Who's hot/Who's Not" he was not

because it is childish. No, I do not think Hannah overreacted, when the list
came out she did not really care. It was not until that guy garbed her butt
that is when she cared.

ReplyDeleteHannah's reputation got started when rumors started circulating the school about Hannah and Justin, her boyfriend for a month or so. Justin started these rumors when he started bragging about Hannah. I think this is extremely common in school. Students and even teachers believe many rumors that could be proven untrue if one made the effort to disprove it. I think I would have been as upset as Hannah was about the rumor if it happened to me. Hannah's special memory was ruined, and I think I would feel the same way.
No, i don't think Alex thought about how they felt, he was trying to be funny and make other people laugh and agree with him. I would react by laughing at who i saw on the who's not list, if i was on the who's not, i would laugh. If i was on the who's hott list, i'd be like ahh yeah. Hannah did overreact way to much.If she's gotta nice butt, she should be proud!

ReplyDeleteClay is at first thinks it is a joke someone is playing on him. He has no idea how or what he did to appear on the list. I would hope my reaction is the same and that I did not intentionally hurt someone. I would have to listen to the tapes to understand why/how I hurt her and why she was pushed to do what she did.
